ricklovin93
Just wondering if anyone has used a standalone management system I was reading about em was i just brainstorming some ideas
z34Phoenix
not many people have gone stand alone. Most retune the factory pcm. the abilities in the factory unit have more then enough functionality to handle the majority of the setups run. RobertISaar
it's a 91-93 LQ1 PCM(16149396) with some significant internal modifications.... extra A/D channels, extra inputs, extra outputs, extra addressing space.... fun stuff.
ricklovin93
Sounds confusing
ricklovin93
What's easier to tune obd 1 or
RobertISaar
depends on what you get exposed to first. they function similarly in that you're always attempting to give the engine what it likes, but each system has it's advantages and disadvantages. ricklovin93
I wanna try an obd1 car due to the easier emissions testing I'm afraid that with an obd2 car any tuning done can set off dtc codes and cause me to fail inspection. But with an obd1 car there's no worry. About it
WhatTheFehl
It would appear OBD2 has more functionality, and there is much more current support. If you really want to get technical, you can just tune out a DTC so you don't fail emissions...
ricklovin93
Inspection computers can see if a dtc code is erased and then fail you
