daughters car
GM no longer makes the rear suspension support for the 1998 lumina. Are there any other years or other GM cars that this part is interchangible? Daughtes car is in pieces in the driveway, need this part. Junk yards have very rusty parts, trading a really bad part for a bad part. Any suggestions? Thanks
wickedbuick
I may need corrected but I believe any 95-2001 Lumina should have the same support, as well as any 95-99 Monte Carlo
wickedbuick
I looked at some places that sell GM parts and it seems they didn't have any in stock since discontinued as you said but sold for $256. I'd look for a 2001 lumina in the junk yard for that part if you can. I did look and that is the same for all the years I listed above. Good luck! Cutlass350
The site http://car-part.com/ uses the interchange data and shows stock for salvage yards that subscribe to it's service. IMHO, if it's not listed on car-part.com, good luck finding something. Unfortunately, car-part.com only lists a few places that list the "Axle Beam Rear (FWD)". And, it doesn't seem to list/know-about any matching years/models. That doesn't mean that they don't exist. But, for some reason, GM chose not to list the other models/years as direct replacements. IMHO, shipping would be expensive. Just about every place that lists on that site will also ship. But, for a rear axle, that heavy, big, requires a decent packing job, etc. If I had to make a wild guess, I'd say $100 to $400++ just for S&H. I know the pain you're going through. I spent over a year looking for a "half-decent" rear axle assembly for my '92 Olds Achieva. Most had the spring perch fully or mostly rusted away. After I found one, I cleaned it, sandblasted it, treated it with Eastwood's 3 part rust sealer/preventative, then finally Eastwood's durable chassis paint. My car may only last a few more years. But, at least I won't have to worry about the real axle falling apart while I'm driving again! If you do get it from a place listed, call up, and make very sure it's exactly the part you want. It may not be a bad idea to fax a picture of the part you want to them to be 100% sure. You can send a fax at Staples, and other places. Cutlass350
I may need corrected but I believe any 95-2001 Lumina should have the same support, as well as any 95-99 Monte Carlo Checking car-part.com with those years, gave ~20 results. That seems a little more optimistic that the OP may be able to find one within driving range. What I used for the selection: Axle Beam Rear X Non-Interchange search using Chevy Lumina Car and similar models Non-Interchange search using only Chevy Lumina Car Select year range: 2001 -> 1995 Edited June 28, 2012 by Cutlass350
wickedbuick
Just incase I am not looking at the same part here is a pic. It is the support/cradle/crossmember that you need right? If so, like I said, any 95-99 Monte or 95-01 Lumina should be good vehicles too look for replacement from
