Gunboat
Hey all.I was driving on the xway at 70 and the car died on me,found out that it was the crankshaft sensor, replaced that, now the car refuses to start, wants to backfire.any ideas? I also replaced all of the spark plugs,no go.Timing belt has recently been replaced, new ECM,was running great before the sensor went out,no bucking or anything, just died.Like I sad,now it refuses to start, just wants to backfire "occasionally",it's getting plenty of fuel, just interminttent spark.any ideas will be great appreciated.. thanks in advance. RobertISaar
what about ICM or coils? if it's injecting fuel when cranking, that means the 3X signal is making it's way to the ECM from the ICM, but is the ICM attempting to trigger the coils? Galaxie500XL
"Timing belt has recently been replaced" Are you ABSOLUTELY sure it's still in time? Because the more I think about it, the more I have to wonder if the actuator has failed, and the cams are now out of time. Easy enough to check, take the front cam carrier cover off, turn the engine by hand to TDC, and see if the flats on the cams are still pointed up. Worth a look... White93z34
I agree with Galaxie500XL, pull that front cover and check the belt. sounds kind of like the belt actuator failed.
