Bake82
I bought the modded 98-99 wiring harness from Brianteel. I have no power at all in the car. When I hook up a battery, it's as if it's not there. Attached are a few pictures showing my current engine bay(1-2). On the passenger side i have the stock 98-99 Monte fuse box, and on the driver's side I have no fuse box. The wire off the battery for the AUX post goes nowhere. The aux post wiring that came with the 89 cutlass is part of the main wiring harness which runs to the ECM and C100 connector. 2 last photo's showing this. The blue car is a 94 w-body which shows the AUX post still in the car and what appears to be going into the cab of the car(Jay hope you don't mind i stole your pics. if an issue let me know:biggrin:) . When I looked at a 98 monte with a 3800 in it, this also seemed to be the same setup as the 94. I looked at a 3.8 lumina today and this fuse box has power going to the horn and ignition, ABS, and fans among other that i can remmeber. 19Cutlass94
If it helps you any, I have that same fuse box on the passengers side of my car as well. The passengers side fuse box is in the actual engine wiring harness. The fuse box on the drivers side, goes into the cab of the car. You didnt have the drivers side fuse box in your 89? BTW, no problem with the pics, I was reading your post and was like whoaa me car
19Cutlass94
I just went and snapped some pics of the two fuse boxes. Drivers side: Passengers side: If you dont have the ign switch wired in, then everything well most would be dead.
Bake82
Yes jay thank you for pics! I do not have the ignition fuse box on drivers side. It is part of the main harness in the 88-89. Anybody have directions on how to get this working?
19Cutlass94
Did you modify that c100 yet? Cause there are a couple wires that need to be moved. Im not exactly sure if the wires at the c100 remained the same from 88 to 94-95 (OBDI)
wickedbuick
No power as nothing functions or no power as in you don't see voltage anywhere? Any voltage at the fuse box or alternator? I made my own harness mods but used a diagram Brian sent me for the C100. Some of the wires on his diagram didn't match colors and some didn't even match the correct pin number.... I had to pin it out and determine some on my own and I didn't take notes so couldn't tell you specific pins. I can pull back my boot tomorrow and look at what I did and see if that helps. White93z34
do you have a pinout of the 98' monte and 88' cutlass c100 connectors?
z34Phoenix
I think i understand the issue now. with the new harness installed you only have one fuse box in the engine bay. you should have two. it seems the box that is on the drive side was integrated into your original harness and is now gone. on my swap from the 96DOHC to a 98 L36 setup, i reused the original driver side box. IIRC this box controlled: cruse control, abs, and fans. it appears it also is in charge of the ignition circuit to supply power to the rest of the harness? maybe you can get this side of the harness from a lumina or other later Wbody? if you need pin outs i have a zip file with all the info i used for my swap. it had much more info then i needed. wickedbuick
I only have one fuse box on my swap and it works just fine lol I do have a box that was not part of the engine harness and it just has relays for the headlight circuits. Other than that just the Monte fuse box
topless94style2
I have both boxes on mine, working on the wiring today. I got a ton of great info from z34phoenix btw, thanks! Two wires I need to add to the C100, are two red power wires. I've added these to the C100, and they go to the passenger side fuse box. Do they simply need power, or are they meant to be routed the same as they were on the LQ1 . I do have power inside the car and to the head lights, top, and windows. No locks, some gauges, no fuel pump but I suspect these because I don't have my PCM yet.
