67eleanorgt500
I have a 1994 Cutlass Supreme Convertible with the airbag. Today while I was driving I made a few left hand turns. I noticed on the second turn my turn signal lever did not click while turning the steering wheel and never poped back up after the turn. I had to manually push the turn signal lever back to stationary position. When I make a right hand turn the turn signal lever automatically springs back after a completed turn. It's kinda hard to explain in words but that's the best I can do. So is my turn signal lever broken? If so how do I go about replacing it myself? Do I need to take the steering wheel apart? tornado_735
The turn signal switch does not "self cancel" when making left turns is what you're looking for. Replacement is kind of a pain, and requires the removal of the airbag, steering wheel, and replacement of the entire turn signal switch assembly. When I make either a right or left turn I pull down or push up the lever that houses cruise control, wiper control turn signal. The left automatically pops back into the whatever I guess stationary position.
tornado_735
Well, whatever the problem is specifically, the turn signal switch is done for. The repair remains the same.
95 vert
There's springs on the switch that hit the horn contact to cancel the turn signal. The spring for the left side most likely broke and the horn contact has nothing to push against to shut it off. Still, the repair is to replace the turn signal switch. But the lever has nothing to do with the horn. So I'm guessing I need to take it to the dealership. I doubt they have a new or replacement turn signal lever though. rich17
The lever has nothing to do with it. Its the inside peices in the column. The turn signal switch can be bought from anywhere, napa, vatozone. If you want to spend the dealer money then go ahead. But a regular show can do it. And it being the same process for aalot of cars I am sure most know what they.re doing.

So I probably wouldn't know what i'm doing. I mean I'm mechanically inclined but there is no where near the steering column I can get to. No screws or anything. There is no switch it's the lever that you move up and down to signal with
67eleanorgt500
Here is what I'm talking about. In the picture I have my hand on the turn signal lever.
67eleanorgt500
How do I go about to replacing it myself? Do I need to disassemble the steering wheel? Can someone walk me through replacing the lever?

1988PhantomFE3
First off, can you please post a pic of Elenor? Second, I've had this problem in my Mustangs and it was a Turn Signal Cancelling Cam that needed to be replaced, that was FORD only though. It looks like the post here to replace the entire switch is perfect for what you need, that goes into amazing detail! Best of luck on this
