1994RedVert
Does anyone know what color the positive speaker wire is on all 6 speaker locations? And are they all the same? I am about to put in some Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers in the stock locations and want to make sure they are wired correctly.
94 olds vert
6 locations? Covertibles have 4. Two on dash and two back by the rear seats. Mine was prewired in both doors for speakers. Iirc the plug has a green/black and black wire in the doors for the door speakers.
1994RedVert
So the doors have pre-wired for speakers, but no speakers? Crutchfield shows 6 speakers. 6.5" in both doors and back panels and two 4" in the dash. And what color is power? I assume green? And black as ground? 94 olds vert
Green is power black is ground. If you look at your vert you will see no speaker vents for the speakers in the door. ManicMechanic's vert also a 94 was only pre-wired in the pass side door.
1994RedVert
No problem. If I have to cut holes I will. Bought 6 speakers so I am going to use them all. I can wire the door speakers in if I have to. lol
94 olds vert
When you remove the door speakers there will be the outline to cut them. Edited May 22, 2012 by 94 olds vert
1994RedVert
When you remove the door speakers there will be the outline to cut them. That looks simple enough. I will post pics after the install. Gonna start on them tonight.

1994RedVert
Ok cool. Looking forward to seeing it done. Did you notice if there were speaker wires pre-installed in the doors?
94 olds vert
Yes both of my doors were pre-wired for speakers in the door. It's possible that only 1 door could be prewired.

Ok, I will have to check it out. Just trying not to have to wire the doors. But, if I have to I will do it.
1994RedVert
Here is what I installed in my Cutlass. 4 6.5" Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers in the front doors and rear panels. And 2 4" Rockford Fosgate speakers in the dash. Here is pictures of the before install in the dash and after. Here is a before and after picture of the front doors install. I did a pretty good job for my first custom install. Here is the rear panels after the install of two more speakers. It sounds awesome!!
