chevylover95 Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 i have a 1995 chevy lumina (car not the van) and it will not turn over i have a 3.1L engine and i have replaced the starter and the serpentine belt because it was broken,can you drive with a broken belt,if so for how long? what are the symptoms of no oil in the engine? i am thinking about changing to a 3.8L V6 from a monte carlo are the hookups the same or will i have to do something else ? Andrew Posted May 10, 2012 Report Posted May 10, 2012 yes you can drive with a broken serp belt, though with no power steering, and the battery will be draining. does oil show on the dipstick? can you turn the engine over with a breaker bar on the crank? have you hooked up any diagnostic tools? are you really willing to waste time and money on a engine swap in a car worth $1500?
