BRZN Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 These were on the car when I picked her up last fall. They were located on the piece of body molding just in front of the passenger side rear wheel well and carried through onto the door. Whatever the previous owner had hit was a hard enough hit to break a piece of plastic out of the molding. These were deep and couldn't be completely removed since several were through the clear into the base coat. But were able to be minimized. Steps taken: Wash Clay bar Wet Sanded with Uni-Grit Paper. Progressed from 1500 to 2000 to 2500 and finished with 3000 grit. Polished using a Porter Cable 7424 XP DA (Dual Action Random Orbital Machine) with it set to use 4" foam focus pads. Progressed through the polishes just like the wet sanding from the most aggressive to the least with the machine set on speed 3: Yellow pad with Meguiar's 105 Ultra-Cut Compound formulated for use with the DA machine. Green pad with Adam's Severe Swirl Remover Orange pad with Adam's Swirl & Haze Remover White pad with Adam's Fine Machine Polish Sealed the paint with Adam's Quick Sealant Filled minor imperfections with Menzerna Finishing Glaze PO115C using a 6" Blue pad on the DA with the regular backing plate reinstalled. Topped the whole thing off with Adam's Buttery wax. It came out looking so good I did the same piece of body molding on the other side of the car and both side skirts over the rocker panels. Other than the front bumper these pieces have the most stone chips and really benefited from the whole process. Quote

94 olds vert Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 What's the black spot on the B4u in the door jam? Quote
BRZN Posted May 6, 2012 Author Report Posted May 6, 2012 Thanks guys. There are two black spots. One at the rear of the door you noticed and another one at the rear of the body molding just about 1/2" before the wheel well. The scratch was so deep it was actually through not only the clear but the base coat in those two spots. I had to be real careful not to make them any worse than they already were. Quote
AL Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 Nate, you might be on your phone but the big black spot is actually a chunk missing Quote
BRZN Posted May 6, 2012 Author Report Posted May 6, 2012 LOL! Thought he could make out the little spot of missing paint. Quote
