chadz34
Hey guys @ 170,000km on the LQ1 decided to pull the plugs out (ACDELCO) they were totally pooched, I installed a set of E3 Performance plugs, gaskets for plenum were still MINT! For anyone doing plugs I would definately recommend the E3 plugs, runs alot smoother, moves more effortlessly, and sounds alot healthier! thunderwolf42
i have a 91 lumina that was running very rough when hot. it starts and runs smooth when cold. it started running rough on my way home, it finaly stalled and stopped running altogether. I put in a new knock sensor because that is what codes came up at Checkers. Now it turns over but a loud and alarming mettalic clattering sound starts before it dies spewing black smoke. the oil and coolant are fine with no contaminates. i checked the knock sensor connector tests ok according to my chiltons manual. chadz34
Check timing belt? No, it was changed at 105,000km. Probably should've checked it. I'll post up the pics of the plugs haha.
Schurkey
Hey guys @ 170,000km on the LQ1 decided to pull the plugs out (ACDELCO) they were totally pooched, I installed a set of E3 Performance plugs, gaskets for plenum were still MINT! For anyone doing plugs I would definately recommend the E3 plugs, runs alot smoother, moves more effortlessly, and sounds alot healthier! Oh, please. You took out "totally pooched" plugs, and you think there's something special about E3s because now the engine runs better? Hint: Goofy, expensive spark plugs sold with a lot of hype and hyperbole will sometimes work as well as properly-selected conventional-design plugs. They'll rarely work better except that some rare-element-conductors last a lot longer than crappy soft electrodes like Champion was known for, and rare-element electrodes even last longer than quality "ordinary" electrodes. For example, the Iridium plugs in my Trailblazer--120K (so far) and when I examined them at 90K, they looked so good I put them right back in even though I had already purchased replacement plugs--which are still sitting on the parts shelf in my garage. If you're paying extra to have a bunch of ground electrodes on each plug...you're being taken.
RobertISaar
^ truth. just grab the platinum ACDelco plugs that were recommended for the later LQ1s and you should be set for another 100K miles. or go with iridiums and probably squeeze out that interval even longer. Mild warning: Install the plugs with a dab of anti-seize, and pull them out for inspection and RE-APPLICATION OF FRESH ANTI-SEIZE at 50K-to-70K. The plugs may be perfectly functional at 100K+ depending on your engine, (oil burning, coolant in the cylinders, overly-rich or overly-lean fuel mix, etc.) but if they're stuck in the heads you won't be happy when the threads rip out. The plugs in the Trailblazer were very scary to remove--although I didn't lose any threads in the heads, the plugs did not come out easy. I don't think GM used anti-seize. They fought me all the way out. Once the threads were cleaned and lubed with anti-seize, they went back into the head very nicely.

I've ran 4 sets of frickin plugs in this car, when I say I like how the E3's run, I mean it. I don't get what your ''Oh, pleasing''?
