ricklovin93
4T60E, This "clunk" happens when: 1. shift from reverse to drive 2. get on the gas after coasting 3. downshift a gear Im guessing that the cv axle needs to be replaced since this started when i blew a ball joint and the axle flew out of the transmission, any other causes? 94 olds vert
Transmission mount. Fairly easy to replace. That would be my guess.
ricklovin93
looks pretty accesible i should of replace it while i was replacing the rotors and pads
RobertISaar
honestly, it sounds like it could be either. take a look at the trans mount at least. or have the hood open and watch for powertrain movement when shifting.
ricklovin93
when in reverse foot on brake and giving some gas the engine goes down and towards the back, alottttttttttttt

ricklovin93
okay now i know the one at the front of the engine (by the harmonic balancer) is completely shot, i can pull chunks of rubber off of it, how many more mounts are there? just one more on the drivers side right? RobertISaar
i can think of 4. the two dogbones on the core support, the lower mount for the engine and the trans.
ricklovin93
well besides the dogbones, they look in pretty good shape

ricklovin93
Just start your own tuning business man, you seem to know a lot of shit
RobertISaar
nobody locally has any money, so i'd be in the same situation i'm in now: mailing and emailing tunes. anyways, back on topic, there is a FAQ for changing the lower motor mount and it's quite useful. i don't think there is one for the trans, but you never know. ricklovin93
after reading the write up it seems pretty straight forward, do you think the transmission mount removal/install is similar?
RobertISaar
seems easy enough. http://i.imgur.com/181he.png http://i.imgur.com/m3QNh.png http://i.imgur.com/viLSi.png you'll probably need the second set of those.
