Do our cars 3100 have oil level sensors? Cause I'm getting tired of seeing this light. While I'm draining the oil I figured I should look for one, cept I cant find it on the car even though I see them listed for sale.

there are oil level switches on 94-up 3100s. some 94s may not have gotten them though? i've seen calibrations that have them disabled.

it is the low oil light, not the oil pressure light we're talkiing about, yes?

i think it depends on make. i don't think the 94 lumina had a light for it, not sure if the CS or regal had it in 94 either.

a 94GP should though, since they moved to the newer cluster that year.

okay, i was looking on the oil pan dont see anything that looks like a sensor, i figured that would be the only place unless the oil pressure sensor doubled as a low oil light...idk

on the 95MC, it's attached to the oil pan, roughly in the center, pretty hard to miss if you're looking at the drain plug.

perhaps your cluster is going south? though if you have a light installed, i would think you would have the switch as well. then i would look for the oil light control circuit to have issues.

Yeah theres 'cutout' in the center of the pan, seems like this car didnt come with one....err, just thought this engine is a replacement maybe they got one that didnt have one installed like the factory engine?

that is a distinct possibility.

in that case:

install the switch

cut the control wire

splice the sensing wires(i can't remember if grounded or open is "not low", but i can check if you want)

pull the bulb

those are the options i can think of.

guess i'll be pulling the bulb one day, i find it strange some came with low oil sensors and others not. Thankyou.

Just for conversion. My 1994 CS does have a low oil light from the factory.

Grounding the wires should do it. Just cut, splice together, heat shrink, bingo. No more light.

yeah, i looked up the schematics, it's a normally closed switch, when it opens, it indicates that the oil level is low.

so connect the switch wires together and the PCM will always think you have an adequate oil level.
