DesertEagle50
The molded plastic tube/hose that runs from the right/rear valve cover to the top of the rubber intake boot/elbow works itself out of the valve cover. I don't like vacuum leaks. I especially don't like this one because I have to use a screw driver to reach under the ignition coils to push the tube back in. Has anyone come up with a permanent solution to this problem? Every time I see that hose out I want to put a bullet in the head of every engineer who designed or approved this joke. Thanks for the help.
RobertISaar
hmm.... i don't think that would be a vacuum leak. that sounds like the fresh air return for the PCV system. no actual vacuum there to speak of, however with the tube off, it would allow a lot of unfiltered air into both the intake and crankcase, so still a significant issue. you COULD get one of those press-in breathers that some use as an alternative to a PCV system, that would allow the system to still work as intended and allow filtered air through the crankcase, then you would just need a way to plug the rubber tube for the intake hose. could just go up to a CAI/WAI/whatever and be done with it, or plug it somehow. maybe a another crankcase breather? rich_e777
Whats up DE.50 do you by anychance have black valve covers? I had them on my CS and they tend to crack around the bolts so i`d replace them first chance you get. For your tube i`d get some high temp gasket maker and seal it in. Ive done the exact same thing years ago and it is still in there tight, but you still have enough flex that you can still move the tube around if you had to take it off again. Ive tried going with breather filters like RobertISaar mentioned but all i could tell is that the engines reved higher at idle, check engine light came on , and i had a lose of power. There was probably something i forgot that would constitute a facepalm moment but i didnt really want to mess with it.
