Mel87
Yeah uh that light came on out of no where today and won't go off, I guess have it scanned because from what I can visually see and hear nothing seems out of order on the Cutlass.. Red Nightmare
If it is the 87 - Under the dash there will be a plug you can hook a jumper wire (any piece of wire will do just hit the right connections) and the SES light will flash out the codes and you then cross-reference that to a haynes manual or just dig them up on the web, real easy. If it is the 97 - Just take it to autozone, they can hook up a scanner and get the codes and it costs nothing. My 94 has the SES light come on occasionally but since a special scanner is needed for the 94 I don't even bother. Eventually it will shut off again. Yeah, 94 sucked. it was not OBD 1 or 2 but some inbetween bullshit
RobertISaar
93-95 3100, 94-95 3.4 and 94-95 3800 are all readable by a DIY scanner even. i would know, i've built many. i've tuned all 3 before as well.
WhatTheFehl
If the code is for the EGR, it most likely has not failed, but instead become clogged. I have a writeup in the FAQ section about it.
Mel87
Well I got it scanned and it said cylinder #1 misfired 386 times. I had him clear it and so far it hasn't come back on.
