282 Axles for Second Gen?

Does anybody know what axles work for this swap? I'm pretty sure there's a combo of parts that work, I just can't find any info on it.

Not sure if the 282 would be the same, but for the 284 you use 2 drivers side 2nd Gen axles.

What's not for a second gen?

When putting a 284 in a 2nd gen, you use 2 2nd gen driver's side axles, according to kuntzie's swap thread.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm doing this swap.

Again, I'm not sure if this would be the same for a 282.

I thought he had to modify them... You could very well be right... The 282 doesnt use the same axles as the 284 does though... However its been years since I have dealt with a 282 or 284 car so I may just be talking out of my ass

I read through his thread a few times. There's nothing in there about modifying axles, so if he did, he didn't write about it.

But none of that helps the OP because you say the 282 axles are different.

Theres a couple threads on 5 speed swaps on clubgp, Im going to find them to help answer these questions

I'm pretty sure the only differences between the 282/284 axles is that the drivers side uses male splines on the 282 and female on the 284.

Another thing. Do second gen automatic axle bearings fit into first gen manual inner stubs/tulips?
