i was just wondering if anyone knew how hard would it be to place a 2nd alternator in place of the ac compressor on a 3.1l 90 lumina

im fine with a welder i-car certified just wondering if it being that low to the ground and water getting kicked up would affect it at all and if so should i make a splash shield

considering you can mount a shaft driven roots supercharger in the same location, it's certainly possible.

to answer the other question: yes, make a splash shield. all(or at least most) LQ1s have them, and they mount at roughly the same height.

good idea. I would love to see this.

It's a common mod for Fiero owners who drop in a 3400 engine.

This is one I did two years ago.

No reason why it can't work in a W body, but, you'll need to find a long belt so as to drive both alternators simultaneously.

The mounting bracket is a reworked item pulled from a mid 90's 3100 A/C equipped.

question sense they are internal voltage regulated can i just splice into the factory alternator harness to control the second one?

He won't need a longer belt, he'll need a shorter one. The alt. pulley is way smaller than the A/C pulley is.

I was making reference to the *modded* swap I had put together.
