ricklovin93 Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 I wanna keep the exhaust on my 96 3100 cutlass stock, how big of a restriction is the stock exhaust? i just wanna build a very mild 3400, how much of a impact will the stock exhaust have on it? And has anyone used the direct replacement cat made by magnaflow? http://www.jcwhitney.com/direct-fit-catalytic-converters-for-49-states/p2017953.jcwx?filterid=d12060y1996j1 how is it? Quote
RobertISaar Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 the downpipe on 1/1.5 gen 3100 W-bodies SUCKS OUT LOUD. i don't know about 2nd/3rd. if you get down to it, you'll see something like a 1.5" opening, even though the pipe OD is considerably larger. fix it with a custom unit and you bump power considerably from that alone. ricklovin93 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Report Posted March 2, 2012 have you heard of anything good with that magnaflowcat, it looks like its the dp and cat Quote
base93lumina Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 Its a stock replacement cat with a nice warrenty. They still have the tiny downpipe and stock sized pipe in and out of the cat. The down pipe is a double walled pipe stock and in that replacement cat. It cuts down the exhaust pulses so you dont hear the "ticking" sound you will hear from headers or larger single walled downpipes. I would go with a "stock-type" muffler, with a FULL 2.5 exhaust. You will get a lil rumble and still keep the stock appearance and sound for the most part Quote
