EMT_156
Since I have the topend of the engine on my wife's Lumina torn apart I was thinking of doing some small upgrades. One of which is the coils. Has anyone used the the Summit or Accell coils and if so how well did they work. I was also thing of making a CAI for it has anyone done one of those as well. Thanks. Garrett Powered
Garrett makes a nice one. expensive though, to save money get coils at the JY
Garrett Powered
to accell your coils get into tunerpro5 and advance the timing. make sure you have fel-pro severe duty head gaskets.

Garrett Powered
if you got the top end off then think about a tgp turbo kit on it which has a garrett turbo stock. shouldnt be tooooo expensive.

She would have the thing blown up if I turboed it.
slick
You will see zero benefits in aftermarket coils on these cars.

alec_b
If you really want better coils, stay away from the aftermarket crap and get a set of SII Supercharged off a regal/bonne/GTP etc. Those factory coils are slightly more powerful than the rest. They are a direct bolt-on.
EMT_156
glad I asked. I am gonna have the car tuned. My buddy is set up for tuning Chevys

EMT_156
Have you had experience with the aftermarket coils.
MonteCarloDude
is there proof of this, it's the first mention of it i've seen? I have heard of it, but i have not seen any proof of it yet. If mine take a crap i'l grab a set just to see. @ OP: Stick with OEM. I have seen W-bodys with 500+ HP running stock coil packs with no problems.
alec_b
I don't know if there's any "proof". I heard this years ago on the bonneville forums. Most people that switch claim slightly smoother idle and a better seat of the pants feel. I've never tried it myself but feedback has been good. RobertISaar
that's like saying one of those TPS modifier boxes work... i'd need to see proof, multimeter tests preferably, with multiple test pieces to rule out factory tolerances. AWeb80
yep, sounds like the placebo effect to me
alec_b
It's entirely possible, but the coils ARE different between SC and non-SC cars. They have different PN's. SC: 10477602 Non: 10472401
