Galaxie500XL Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Well, my 3-month old miniquad on the driver's side just died, for the 4th time in the last year. I'm not really interested in trying to convert them, just wonder of anyone knows of a GOOD replacement. The shops here only sell the Sylvania standard and Xtravision bulbs, and so far, I've replaced a total of 6 of them over the past two years, at $35.00 a pop. any suggestions? Quote
gp1991 Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 im surprised your going through them that fast, im still on the factory ones... Quote
oldmangrimes Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 I've replaced three in the last two years, I also don't like spending so much money and time on them. I'm thinking that the next time I need to replace one I'll just cut out the bulb and replace it like I've read about on here. Sorry I don't have the thread link. My miniquads don't give out much light, but I used to own a 93 camaro with the miniquads that had tinted headlight covers so I'm used to driving in the dark. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Silicone some 6000k hids in there. Cheap and works like a charm. Takes the miniquad light output from horrible to adequate. Sent from my Motorola Dynatac 8000x using Tapatalk Quote
jman093 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 It sounds like your getting water in there if your bulbs are going out that frequently. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 But miniquads are sealed beam units Sent from my Motorola Dynatac 8000x using Tapatalk Quote
slick Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 He's got some other issue- Poor ground, poor connection, spikes, etc... There's no reason why they are frying out like that. Quote
Mel87 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Mine are GE I believe, bought them at the auto store... Quote
