3100 Fuel Pressure Regulator

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Does anyone have any tips for removing the FPR from the 3100's fuel rail & fuel line? I need to swap my old L82 one out for the correct version for my LG8 as I'm still running my L82's injectors/FPR. I plan on doing the FPR and EV6 injector swap from my current EV1s when I do this.

Tips, correct tools, etc... would be appreciated. The manuals I have aren't particularly helpful and the part seems a bit fragile...afraid I'll break something.

I'm not even sure you can separate it.....I think it's all one piece...?

It's a separate piece. I've read you can change it out without having to remove the upper intake...or you must remove the upper intake to change it. So I'm semi confused.

It is easy to replace a fuel pressure regulator. You don't need to remove the upper intake. You will need #40 Torx bit, 5/16 in open wrench and adjustable wrench. Release the fuel pressure. Loosen the nut of the fuel line with the open wrench while holding the old regulator with the adjustable wrench stationary. Undo the Torx screw and remove the regulator. Lubricate the O-ring of the new regulator before assembly.

It took me 10 min to replace this thing on my 3100 SFI.

will the 3100 regulator fit my 3.1? I have a donor 1997 Lumina and am looking to replace the regulator in my parent's 92 3.1. Thanks.
