brake Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Does anyone happen to know the ID and length of the flex pipe on a 96 GP SE with dual exhaust? I've got an exhaust leak that's getting progressively worse, it only appears under load and accelerating in gear. Revving it in neutral it's not noticeable. Replaced the EGR pipe recently, rechecked the bolts and threaded nut in the manifold, they're all tight...o2 sensor is tight, haven't checked the manifold bolts yet so I can't definitively rule it out. I don't see it listed on RockAuto or anything, I'm assuming flex pipes are just generic like lengths of exhaust tubing. Is that so? Quote
brake Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 Is there a flex pipe on these cars? Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted February 5, 2012 Report Posted February 5, 2012 The only flex pipe is in the x-over. Quote
brake Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 Connecting the two banks? Dammit. I don't know what the hell is leaking, then...I assumed the motor was tilting back when torqued up (leak is only accelerating in gear) Quote
brake Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 Downpipe gasket the donut between manifold and the downpipe? what should i replace with it? dunno if it's just a gasket and some nuts/bolts or what Quote

carkhz316 Posted February 6, 2012 Report Posted February 6, 2012 Well, I'm not sure how many W's it's on, but my Monte actually does have a short accordian-style flex joint, right at the beginning of the beginning of the DP. It also exhibits same leak behaviors as OP's Quote
brake Posted February 7, 2012 Author Report Posted February 7, 2012 Interesting. I will put it on the hoist tomorrow if we've got a free bay at school and take a gander. Quote
