GnatGoSplat
The breather tube that goes to the rear valve cover keeps popping off. It's under a lot of tension, and I noticed the transmission fluid dipstick tube was pressing against it quite hard, enough that there is an indentation worn into the tube. I moved the tube to the other side of the dipstick, but it's still touching the dipstick tube and under a good deal of tension as well. Not sure if it will pop off in this position, but being that it's under a good deal of tension on either side of the dipstick tube, which side is correct? A red arrow points to the breather tube in the pic below. Which side of the dipstick tube should it be located? It was left of it before, shown in the photo is after I moved it to the right of it. slick
Get a longer hose, and take the tension off of it.
94 olds vert
I've replaced that tube on my CS before. I got a longer section of tube and I kept it to the left of the trans dip stick.
GnatGoSplat
Chris, it's not a hose, but a rigid plastic tube. It seems to fit better to the right of the dipstick where I've moved it, and that molded bend kind of made me think it's in the right place now, but there's still tension on it so I don't know. The length of it is actually a little too long to fit well to the left of the dipstick tube which is why it was rubbing and popping off, but tension it has now is because it's a little too short to fit to the right. Makes me wonder if I need to bend the dipstick tube in one direction or the other depending on which side of it the breather tube should be. Just curious how it's supposed to be, from the factory. I couldn't find a picture in the service manual.
slick
I vaguely remember this now, as it kept popping off in my Z34 too. I think I put mine how it "looks" like it should go, with the bend wrapping around the dipstick tube.
