95 3800 intake questions?

i'm about to replace the lower intale gasket on my 95 regal with the 3800 motor.i replaced it myself about a year ago and it is now leaking bad in the corners.does anybody have any tips or tricks to make it last for at least a few years?i'm using the felpro gaskets with the red sealing strips and blue end seals.thanks...

I replaced mine at 181k miles and it was perfectly fine till 217k miles when I removed that engine. If you're having external leaks in the corners, you did something wrong.

 

Make sure you follow the correct procedure for tightening the nuts, and make sure you tighten them all to the correct torque spec. Do not use any additional sealants or adhesives aside form what is provided in the FelPro kit for the longer side rubber seals. A peanut-sized dab of the silicone grease that is included in the corners where the larger gaskets and the rubber strips connect is all you need, both under and on top.

thanks for the quick response:) i think my problem is that i used blue gasket sealer instead of the end seals like i do on chevy v8's.btw i wish my regal looked an performed like yours!.thanks again.....dave

it turns out that i used the end seals,the old gaskets are cracked and distorted near the ends leaving a big path for coolant to leak from.the old gaskets are black with grey or off white sealing strips and the end seals are grey.the new set has blue end seals and red sealing strips.does anybody know if felpro updated the gaskets or have a better set that they can recomend?
