White93z34
by 3.4 I assume you are talking 3400? no you don't in fact with some small exceptions a 3400 is a bolt in replacement for the 3100.

White93z34
There are 2 different 3.4s GM used over the years the 3400 Pushrod and the 3.4 DOHC which are you using?
Artemis
If it was from a supreme then he's in trouble.
Crazy K
The key code on the chip is not directly related to anything under the hood... the module it activates is in the dash. changing the computer or anything else under the hood will not be affected by what you are doing.. HOWEVER.... you need to know the direction of what you are doing under the hood. if you are using a 3.4 dual over head cam engine, you need to make sure you have the wiring and computer that goes with it for it to even run in your car. it will not run properly in the least if you just wire it into the car's stock computer. Ideally a 94 or 95 only motor and all accesories, wiring and computer should be swapped in completely. any thing else (such as a 91-93 motor) will require much more work... That said, you need to be very clear on what you are doing it you need help to make this work or do not know what you are doing.............
