Artemis
My 95 GTP (with 96 LQ1 and 96 4T60E) is having some odd tranny problems. I believe I have an idea whats going on but thought I could use some input. Basically it seems that if I'm cruising on a slight incline or level between 50-65km/hr the tranny will eventually engage in TCC. If I try to accelerate slowly from this point the car shakes. Could it be that its not actually supposed to be in TCC at that speed, and the rpms just too low? If so, how do I get it to not engage TCC at that speed? If not, what else do you think it could be? Its driving me crazy, I find myself needlessly stepping on the gas instead of smoothly accelerating.
Schurkey
If I try to accelerate slowly from this point the car shakes. First Guess: Not the transmission. (Anything's possible...) I'd be looking for scan-tool evidence of engine misfire.

I'm with this guy. Doesn't sound like a transmission related problem.
AL
Yep, misfire
chadz34
Had this exact problem with my car when I first got it. SAME engine and tranny combo. It turned out to be a split plug wire, so check there, and not just the front 3, becasue mine was under the intake plenum. I guarantee it's spark related. But it doesn't happen in first gear ever. I have brand new wires too! I guess I will check them though, for some reason I never thought of misfires but that kind of makes sense. AL
Theres not much load on your engine in first gear, only 3rd and 4th, especially when the TC is locked

Check the wires, could also be a weak coil pack or something if your wires are new. Seeing as how you have the 96' engine layout, they are even easier to get to. I'm 99.9% sure it's coils to wires. My car acted the same.

My car acted the same. That is excellent. Very happy to hear it likely isn't tranny related. I will test the wires and coils. Maybe just replace the coils.
