1995 Monte Carlo LQ1 plenum bolts

Hello All,

Since I am not getting any hits on my last post. I am posting another question. Do I need to replace the plenum bolts when I remove and replace plenum gasket. Just making sure that they do not stretch and lock like other intake bolts when torqued.

Thanks.

no one ever does, and they should be fine to reuse as they are only low torque anyhow, unlike a headbolt... I've re-used the same ones several times without issue.

My Haynes manual lists the torque for those bolts as 16-18 ft/lbs. Based on that rather low number and the fact that there is no additional angle needed to turn the bolts, I'm pretty sure they are not torque to yield and can be reused.

Yeah I know Psychomatt just reused his. Although make sure your socket isn't broke so you don't round them off...

Mine have been re-used like 10 times, theyre fine for re-using. If they start to get back just use a little LOCTITE.

Everything that could possibly need repaired requires these stupid bolts to come off anyway....I can do it in 8 minutes.

Thanks all. So I opted to take off the plenum to change the ECT properly plus I wil be using a new pigtail as the oone I have seems to be very old and the insulation is coming off. Hope to have all the parts by Wednesday to change my radiator and put this sensor in to make sure my fans come on at the correct temp.
