I've been having problem with what appears like the charging system as the voltmeter will significantly drop and the car feels likes its going to die but this only happens at night with my lights on and when brake pedal is pressed, any suggestions and ideas? In the last 3 weeks, I have replaced my Z34 with new fuel pump, hanger, and alternator. It has 175K + but I love this care and beats the monthly payment.

First Guess: There is no easy way to diagnose this, most folks don't have an ammeter capable of dealing with the current draw likely involved.

Is the battery FULLY CHARGED? Open circuit (no-load) voltage better be 12.6--12.7. 12.2 volts on a "12-volt" battery is actually HALF-DEAD.

What is the battery voltage, (1)engine at idle, lights and brakes OFF; and (2)engine at idle, lights and brakes ON?

there is a way to datalog it and monitor the voltage, IAC steps, RPMs a lot better than stock gauges. but you need good wiring, not 20 year old stock stuff, or you are just shooting in the dark. you need the big 3.

Please explain further and I'm all ears. We had it hooked up to a voltmeter after alternator was replaced - it appeared that it was the second one since it was a reman not the original - we replaced it with a new ac/delco alternator. Voltmeter reads as high as 14.3 with lights off and brake pedal pressed. With lights on 13.3 but 2 nights ago as I drove to work (work night shift), it dropped below 12 whe brake pedal is pressed and lights on but quickly returned to 13+ when foot off brake. Hmmmmmm.
