Mark 97 Cutlass Coupe
Has anyone ever bought a rebuilt 3100? Mine runs fine at 134,000 miles, but you never know. I really plan on keeping mine forever, and was just curious about price/source. I feel bad when I read about the guys with rust issues. My car spent most of its life west and south, so I am rust free. Unless it gets wrecked or burns up, its a keeper for me! urbex
Really if anything happens to your engine you'd be better off finding a used one from a junkyard.

What years would be a "direct fit" if such a thing exists, and how long did they make the 3100? The reason I asked about a rebuilt motor is because the labor to install a used one would be the same I am guessing as a rebuilt one, and of course with a rebuild I would have a warranty and no concern about how the previous owner maintained it. AL
Late 93-2005... They will all be a direct fit, however some parts may need to be taken off of your old engine and used on the new one
94 olds vert
I had my engine rebuilt after finding out the block was cracked. After everything was done it was $600 dollars for me. You might as well continue driving it until it dies. Odds are good with regular maintenance you could put another 100k on that engine. You PMed me and asked about piston slap. I didn't have any piston slap before it was rebuilt. That is completely normal for those engines. I'd be more worried about your trans. I've never intended to keep a car with so many miles, yet it still runs and looks as if it has 50,000 miles on it. Short of an unforseen disaster, I plan on keeping it forever.
