Ok i have a 90 lumina 2dr with the stock 3.1l motor with only 91k on it but im looking for something with a little more power to it and just wondering if anyone would know what i would all need to do to do a swap to a 4.6l from a cadillac really want the 4.6l do to its good amount of power and torque that it puts out 300hp and 295ft lbs i can get the motor and tranny for 290 total with ecm and wires but should i just take the mounts also from the caddy or try and make my own?

The cost of custom mounts and custom cv shafts and custom exhaust and I am sure theres plenty more I am missing, would be way over what the car is even worth... plus, the motor may not even fit

Those are BIG motors.. The 4.0L someone here has is really tight, I can't imagine a N* fitting easily.

It fit in a 1.5g....arent the engine bays the same size?

well i remember reading somewhere that some company use to make kits for the 4.9l swap and then they would bore it out to a 5.0l so i figured the 4.6l would fit and it has more power then most of the 4.9l did

exhaust im not worried about i can make that myself but the cv i figured the caddy one would fit "fingers crossed" the big thing for me is the mounts :/

Why not a realistic engine swap?!? That won't cost an arm and a leg and is damn near bolt it.

L67 (aka Supercharged 3800) simple bolt ons = 13s

LX9 (aka 3500) should be mid/high 14s

Both can net 30mpg+ tuned right.

BTW, N* engine controllers can't be retuned. Some place in the world, someone claims to be able to, but that's aboot all I know.

Engine swap with a L67/LX9/LA1/LG8 and you'll end up OBD2 in the process and be able to tune with HP Tuners.

Either way, even if your doing any engine swap yourself completely, expect the cost to be over $1000 easy, not including the exhaust system.

If it has enough clearance I say go for it. 290 is a cheap experiment. Make sure you get the mounts included so you have a staroting point. Also get the guage cluster from the caddy in case there are wiring issues as well as the cv shafts. They can be cut down and machined. Biggest question is ca:dance:n you weld?

i cant weld but my buddy is a certified welder so he can do it and at no cost woot:dance:
