Unn_Impala13 Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Eventually I am wanting to do some custom art for me vehicle but I'm not sure whether I should go with painting or with having a vinyl print made with a clearcoat layered over it. Which one would last longer and be most worth the money. If painted, it will be done by me once I get more airbrush experience. Quote
white4d96 Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 If you have the car painted, vinyl will be cheaper. If you do the paint yourself you can probably do the paint for less. Automotive vinyl typically lasts about 5 years IIRC, but the nice thing is, if you ever get in a wreck, or have to replace a panel for whatever reason, just go back and have a new sheet printed for that panel. I've heard of a lot of racers doing their cars in vinyl for just that reason. Quote
Twenty Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 Vinyl, being non-permanent, is great should you plan to sell the car in a few years, or still have good OEM paint. Quote
slick Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I have this odd feeling that you and z34guy would be great friends. Quote
