TeeJay3800
I just read a very interesting article in one of my automotive magazines. It talks about a new valve train that is being developed at GM. The new generation of engines will have pushrod valve trains with 3 valves per cylinder! Two intake valves will be side by side and operated by the same pushrod using a forked rocker arm. The single exhuast valve will be on the opposite side of the combustion chamber with the spark plug in between. This system should debut on the C6 Corvette Z06's 6.3L Gen-IV V-8 and should find its way into some High-Value V-6s (which I think will be used in the latest gen W-bodys). The article said this should be introduced late in 2004 in 2005 model year cars. 8)
phantomFE3
that would be sweet as hell, i wonder how good they flow compared to conventional 2vpc engines, probably alot better
TeeJay3800
I'm sure they flow a lot more since the 6.3L expected to be used in the C6 makes 500 HP @ 7000 RPM. They said this motor can grow to 7.0L and rev to 8000 RPM. I think its safe to say they breath a little better than 2-valve head motors. 99RegalGS
I hope the the "High Value V6" engines include the Buick V6 not just the new Chevy V6's. Here's a link to the article in Automotive Enginnering Magazeine. It's on Page 5 http://www.sae.org/automag/techbriefs/09-2003/1-111-9-26.pdf
