HicksZ
Hello This is my first time ever posting on this board tho I read thru it at least once a day. I post quite a bit on the original Lumina mb. Anyways, I have a 92 Lumina Z auto, which IMO has absolutely no top end power. Ive already been smoked by a 94 pushrod 3.4 Trans Am 5-speed(I've been told I shouldve had that one easy ). Ive been trying to come up with ways to boost my high end power. The only near future mods I plan on is a FFP motor mount, shift kit, trans cooler, and fabricating my console to fit this shifter. Is there anything I can do to get a noticeable increase in my top end? Thanks, Andy
Justin
Well a free flowing intake/exhaust will give you more top end, at the sacrifice of lower end torque. I've heard messing with exhuast cam timing will give you more up top too, do a search and check it out to make sure.

Sam96SL
You mean to tell me Trans-Ams came with six-bangers in them????? (well, if you're really concerned about not getting yer doors blown off by Trans-Ams, I'd opt for a regular, reliable, common as hell chevy small block V-8......but that would just be *my* solution)
Robby1870
Newer Trans Ams only came with the LS1 V8. Regular firebirds came with the V6

RareGMFan
But weren't the regular Firebird V6s a 3800, not a 3.4?

bluegp
...I have a 92 Lumina Z auto...fabricating my console to fit this shifter. I going to put a ratchet shifter in my car also. The detent mechanism in the shifter will need to be modified as the distance that the shifter cable moves between some of the gears is different for the FWD transmission. 99RegalGS
The only TA to have a V6 was the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. It is the fastest stock Trans Am.
TeeJay3800
The only TA to have a V6 was the 1989 Turbo Trans Am. It is the fastest stock Trans Am. The 4-speed auto TTA is slower than the last 4th gen, 5.7, 6-speed Trans Am.

EurosportZ34
So back to the topic of getting more top end power...I have a '92 Z34 as well. I have no low end power, but alot of high end. So far I have upgraded to a K&N intake and 16" BF Goodrich Traction T/A VR speed rated tires. Within in the next couple months, I'm getting the FFP chip, underdrive pulley, and motor mount, and dual 40 series Flowmasters. Any ideas on how to increase my low end and also gain more top end power??
