reddroptop Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 JUST FINISHED CHANGING THE VACUUM BOOSTER HOSE ON MY 1994 CUTLASS SUPREME CONVERTIBLE WITH AN LQ1 ENGINE. HOSE IS DISCONTINUED, BUT THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO GET ONE FROM THE WAREHOUSE BECAUSE THERE WAS STILL STOCK (PART NO. 10400822). SYMPTOMS WERE THAT IT WOULDN'T RUN PROPERLY WHEN COLD. SCANNER DID SHOW A PO131 LEAN HO2 AND IT WOUD RUN FINE IN CLOSED LOOP BECAUSE THE ECM WAS COMPENSATING WITH ADDITIONAL FUEL. IT GAVE ALL THE INDICATIONS OF BAD INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE GET FOOLED INTO UNNECESSARY MANIFOLD GASKET CHANGES, IAC, MAF, IAT AND FUEL PUMP CHANGES? Quote
Schurkey Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 10400822 crosses to AC-Delco #176-1082. Verify before you buy. I haven't checked the part number, but I replaced the booster hoses on my '92 and '93 Lumina LQ1s; the 92 was soft and degraded; the 93 hose was still OK--but I replaced it anyway since I had the upper manifold off, and it was therefore very easy.
