jwill213
I'm looking to get new struts put on my '98 Lumina LTZ. It looks like Monroe Sensa-Tracs and KYB GR-2s are essentially the same price around the net... Which should I go for? I'm leaning towards the KYBs, given what I've read on this and other forums, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Crazy K
I think the rears are a toss up, both work well there, but KYB for the front for sure.
carkhz316
I have done a few sets of KYB's on various vehicles, both mine and families. So far I like 'em better than any of the Monroe or Gabriel stuff I've used in the past. They seem to live up to what they advertise; which is a notch above OEM for ride quality and whatnot. White93z34
I have no preference really. Both are marketed as OEM replacements, I've installed plenty of both brands both work well in my opinion. If I had to choose I'd prolly give the nod to Kyb. But thats not based on anything. Whichever is cheaper.
ptcfast2
From what I've read KYB has better cartridges for the front, but I've actually got Monroe struts on my 98 as I got all 4 wheels/struts for my car for right around $120 at Advance after rebate. Â I've replaced the Monroe cartridges once as Advance sells them with a lifetime replacement policy on them. I also have Monroe on the rears but they are still fine. Don't think I'll ever really need to replace them, heck the OEM struts still were fine in the rear after 220,000 miles. Â So, really up to you. If you have an Advance around AND you like the idea of free strut replacement for the life of the car see if the Monroe struts are the same price as online (or find a coupon to make them cheaper). If you don't have an Advance Auto go get some KYBs and call it a day! Edited October 26, 2011 by ptcfast2
Crazy K
Advance sells KYBs with a lifetime warrenty, too.... you just have to order them in, or online... and online can get you the discount code

Anyways, they seem to be twice the price (compared to getting a KYB online) and they don't carry them in stores / you have to wait for them to ship in. I WANT MY STRUT NOW DAMNIT!
