bluebirdvision Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 The driver's power window switch in my 1999 Regal is automatic. However when I push it, it does not automatically put the window down, I have to hold the button. Is there a setting or something I'm not doing right. Not a big deal, I was just wondering. Quote
Mel87 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 As far as I know, on an auto down button, there are 2 switches. You can feel them click, the first one when lightly pressing the button, and when you press it all the way down you should hear/feel another click. Possibly the auto down switch has gone bad? Did you spill water on the door panel or anything? Quote
94 olds vert Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 I've taken them apart and resoldered the joints in the switch and got them to work good again. Quote
bluebirdvision Posted October 23, 2011 Author Report Posted October 23, 2011 I haven't ever split anything in the switches. I don't know about the previous owner. I figured there was 2 switches! How does one remove the window switch panel? Just pry it up? I'll try spraying the switch and see if that fixes it. It did work ONE time right after I bought the car. Quote
Mel87 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 The bezel around the switch should just pry up. I don't know if spraying would do any good. Quote
94 olds vert Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 The switch works, but not the auto down feature. That sounds like an internal problem. It should just pry up. Lift one side at a time to get it out. Quote
bluebirdvision Posted October 23, 2011 Author Report Posted October 23, 2011 Thank you for the help! I feel like I'm asking really stupid questions LOL I have first car disease. LOL Quote
94 olds vert Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Its okay. Getting a first car has to happen some time. Quote
