Mel87
Might be your thermostat sticking, tap it with a hammer.

Mel87
Was it doing this before you put the new thermostat in?

Crazy K
air pocket behind the t-stat, air pocket also interfering with coolant going to the heater core. You need to bleed coolant system, and monitor for other issues, such as coolant leakage though the intake and such..... Mel87
Well, honestly... my car does the same thing. Never really payed mind to it. When mine warms up it warms up all the way to the line right under the hot mark then it would rapidly cool down to this point... Same thing happens with me, the heat isn't hot until the thermostat engages. My 95 CS never did this.

I am really needing some help on this it is starting to frustrate me.
gp90se
What I've been doing with my wifes pos olds until waiting until the engine gets hot/almost.overheating- pull over and open the bleeders. Soon as I open the t-stat one, the temp drops right down to the half way mark. I also bleed the heater core one as well. But the wifes car needs a radiator and the intake gaskets are weeping, check your car for other issues
