92GSCoupe
o.k. I have been searching here for a while and have found some great leads to fixing my car. 92 regal gs coupe. But I'd like some direct answers from those who know. This morning my car turned over slowly then fired up. Ran great. Drove 20 miles to work and it sat for 8 hours. Got back in and it turned slowly again but fired up. Drove 10 miles to a gas station and filled up. Tried to start it. It was very slow to turn over then nothing. Tried several times with key and no go. All lights are on. Fuel pump not coming on when key is turned. Battery, fuel pump, fuel filter changed 3 months ago after car had been sitting for 2 years. I had also pulled alternator off at that time to test and it was good. I had someone come over with jumper cables and it didn't work. No clicking or anything. Tried jumping the solenoid with a screwdriver and no engagement. Only sparks. Pulled battery and had it tested at Autozone. 100% good. After dragging the car home, I put a higher cca battery in. No good. I thought it might be the starter but that doesn't explain why my fuel pump has suddenly lost power. Key switch maybe? Previous to today it has always turned over quickly. On occasion my voltage gauge will fall below 13. To around 10. I can slap my dash and then the volts go back up above 13. I thought maybe the needle was sticking. But when the volts showed low, my turn signals would flash very slowly. Could this be related to starter issue?
GOT2B GM
Try tightening the AUX post nut (the auxiliary positive terminal covered with a red cap on the drivers side of the vehicle in front of the strut tower)
GOT2B GM
You can see it in this pic the red cap
92GSCoupe
I found the problem. I found a big enough hammer to smack the starter with and it worked. It fired right up. Now I get to find out how tough it is to get out.

xtremerevolution
I found the problem. I found a big enough hammer to smack the starter with and it worked. It fired right up. Now I get to find out how tough it is to get out. I did it in 30 degree weather with my spare tire jackstand and a $10 set of cheap tools. Took me half an hour from when I lifted the car to when I set it back down. Very easy job. Sent from my HTC Awesome using Tapatalk
