birdman Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 I think i have a wheel speed sensor on the fritz but im nite sure of the best way to check them out. Is there a way to monitor them in hpt? Basically i get a service vehicle soon light pretty often and occasionally ill get trac off and maybe an abs light on startup. Quote
GP1138 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Interested in this as well. Even after a bad wheel bearing replacement I get an ABS light almost immediately after starting to drive. Also, why does this cause the power steering to get heavier? Quote
2k2cse Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 9 times out of 10, when you have a bad WSS, you will get the service vehicle soon, trac off, and ABS light combo. That being said, its not always a bad sensor, it could just be a bad connection at the plug. My svs/trac off/abs lights come on randomly due to a weird connection at the clip on my LF. @GP1138 Do you just get the abs light, or the other two as well? You might have a problem in your abs system, which could be causing your power steering to feel heavier. Quote
birdman Posted October 6, 2011 Author Report Posted October 6, 2011 If you have magnasteer im sure it uses vehicle speed to know when to change pressures Quote
2k2cse Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Thats a good point. I didn't think about that. Quote
AL Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Only way to check it is to have a shop pull the codes Quote
birdman Posted October 6, 2011 Author Report Posted October 6, 2011 Will hpt be able to do this? Or is that out of it's capabilitys? And would it have to be a shop or do auto parts stores have a scanner for that? Quote
AL Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 I would think it would be able to pull abs codes Quote
birdman Posted October 6, 2011 Author Report Posted October 6, 2011 Ok would it show up with the other codes or would i have to monitor them to see which one was acting up? Quote
AL Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Should be in history codes or stored codes, but monitoring them sure doesnt hurt Quote
