Oilpatch197
My sunroof is getting noisier, I don't have a owners manual. Is there a procedure to lube the rails? How do I do it, and what special grease do I need?
carkhz316
Open it/ remove the glass if possible. Take a rag(s) and your choice of cleaner (I recommend brake clean or something similar) and clean everything very well. Re-lube with some white lithium grease or similar. I've used brake slide and caliper grease in the past because it is a thick, water/ moisture resistant, silicone-(I think)-based lube. Hope this helps, and good luck! urbex
^What he said. I use white lithium grease on the moonroof on the HHR and it works.
Oilpatch197
I got up there and noticed the OEM grease was a very thin film of black stuff, also I had some shiny spots in my rail where the track wore through the black coating. After greasing it ran a LITTLE faster, but still noisy. Were the frames of these sun roofs powder coated or something?
