Cougnut
Hey guys, Recently I changed the EGR valve and Idle Air in the z34, and the engine light is still on. Went to my mechanic buddy's shop and he ran a scan for free, and it's still giving the codes for a bad EGR valve and Idle Air control. He told me to start saving for a new car, and it's most likely an electrical problem. I replaced the idle air/EGR because my car was dying out, and it was idling rough. We originally did a scan and that's what the codes read to replace the both. Ever since I replaced the EGR Valve and Idle air, I have not had the issues that I had before. Any ideas? Almost 100,000 miles on it.
94 olds vert
I would pull the ECM fuse for a couple of minutes and let the computer reset. Or disconnect the neg. Battery terminal. A CEL is no reason to buy a new car. Especially when you replaced the parts that needed to be when you scanned it.
WhatTheFehl
The EGR actually may not have failed in the first place... I've got a writeup on here about that somewhere. I'd link it but I'm on my.phone right now.
Andrew
did you clean out the tube that connects the egr to the exhaust?
dodgethis
I would run Seafoam through and go from there.
