92GrandPrixSE
92 GPSE, 3.1L with 172k. Just did a tuneup and cleaned the throttle body. I ran the car after the tuneup and it ran fine. Then I cleaned the tb to try and lower the idle, and now it wont idle at all, and sometimes it will rev up to 2-3k rpm. I'm at a loss.. Any ideas? 94 olds vert
Sounds like it could be your TPS. Since it likes to rev up and down.
92GrandPrixSE
It least it's only $20.
92GrandPrixSE
I've heard I should unhook the battery for a bit and make it do a relearn, do you concur?
94 olds vert
I think I also have to replace mine on my 3.1l. Mine did something similar to yours.

Leo090
So did u do a relearn? is that why it idles again?? Try swapping with a junk IAC sensor
92GrandPrixSE
I left the battery unhooked. I'll try that soon.
92GrandPrixSE
I just picked up the tps, and a throttle body gasket set. Tempted to do the intake gaskets too. Replaced the IAC as well.
92GrandPrixSE
So, after replacing the throttle body gaskets, TPS and IAC, it still idles high. Checked for vac leaks and found nothing. :/
