Circle Track Z34
Well I was holding 3rd place out of 80 with 75 laps down and 25 to go when the motor power started fading hard and the temp started climbing hard. I pulled off track and put her to bed... Oil and coolant all over belt side!! Question is... rebuild or buy new? This engine HAS to last 100 laps and I want to do cam and springs so I can make her turn 8k rpm!! I neeeeed it in the turns. This thing is WICKED stock but could be down right EVIL with some help. Anyone have any suggestions... First place had a 4,000$ cash prize this weekend... my buddy took third with his Lexus tho so our team didn't go home empty! mra32
I need to get into this. that is all. The suggestion you are probably going to get is get one from the junkyard if you are planning on doing a full rebuild. If yours is fixable (sounds like a headgasket) i would just fix it. I dont know anything about performance parts on that engine
Z34guy
I can provide a list of all LQ1 aftermarket performance parts currently made. No one makes camshafts for this engine though. If you want them, go to a shop that specializes in Northstars or import ricers and have a set custom made.
digitaloutsider
You're going to have a rather difficult time keeping an LQ1 spinning at 8K continuously for any time at all without forged bottom end parts. If you're looking to do things on the cheap, find a low milage motor in the yard and swap it in. I'm not sure what you did for it to be spewing oil and coolant everywhere, but it probably isn't good. Did you check to see if you cracked the block or a head?
