jjs316 Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 I was coming from my house to go out in town and i was coming up a hill and all of a sudden, my car died...Just quit...I pulled off...it never would start again..all the gauges were down and all the lights were on...The car would turn over and keep cranking but wouldn't start up...anyone know what this might be? Full tank of gas too, so i didnt run out of gas :? Quote
99RegalGS Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 It could have been the crankshaft position sensor. If the computer loses the signal the car will immediately kill and not restart. Quote

jjs316 Posted October 19, 2003 Author Report Posted October 19, 2003 we have already changed the Timing belt once..I hope it isnt that either...If its that again, id say that will just push my dad to sell the car... Quote
GrandPrix34 Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 check the belt...thats wat happened to mine felt like it could start wit a kick in the kanakers but it was the damn belt Quote
phantomFE3 Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 my friend has a lumina and the fuel pump went out on it, im not sure if thats a common problem, i havent heard many people talk about it on here but that may be the problem, have someone spray some starting fluid into the throttle body while its cranking over, see if that makes a difference or if it starts up or sputters or whatever Quote
jjs316 Posted October 21, 2003 Author Report Posted October 21, 2003 Timing Belt/Chain broke...Mechanics were saying that it possible screwed something all to hell and i might need a motor..Even if i dont need the whole new motor my father said he doesnt want to put anymore money into it...might just have to sell it for parts or something...who knows... CanadianGTP Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 The 3.4 is a non-interference motor, if the belt brakes the pistons return to TDC and no damage occurs. Don't let the mechanic tell you otherwise. Quote
