mr bean Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Back in the day there used to be a brake upgrade article for the 1st gen to go to 2nd gen brakes. Is that article still around somewhere? Quote
Psych0matt Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Ken, you of all people should know! Quote
white4d96 Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Last I heard the only way to do 2g front brakes was to run 2g struts which basically required redoing the whole front suspension. Putting late 1g parts on though yields an improvement for less work. Don't quote me on any of this Quote
jman093 Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 2nd gen brakes? No. Are you talking about 94-96 brakes? That's the upgrade. Quote
AliasCT Posted September 4, 2011 Report Posted September 4, 2011 (edited) Nope, I'm pretty sure that mr bean is right. There was a pretty awesome write up with pics of the whole 1g to 2g rear brake conversion. They didn't cover the front brakes. That was before this site changed over to the new version and all the links broke though... From what I remember you needed the knuckle and brake components. The knuckle had to be modified slightly to fit. Wish I remembered enough of it and cared enough about my car to have done it! Edit: Also, obviously, you have to ditch the monoleaf since the 2g knuckle doesn't have the perch for it. Do a coilover conversion at the same time? Edited September 4, 2011 by AliasCT Quote
Dark Ride Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 I am looking for this article as well, anyone know where it is? It talked about taking the rear brake assembly from a 2nd gen GP to put on a 1st gen. Figured bumping this old thread is easier than making my own. Quote
Dark Ride Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Found it! It is here:http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/46209-Bob-and-Rob-s-Gen-2-Aluminum-Rear-Knuckle-and-Brake-Upgrade-How-To-with-Pics This way the next person to search for it using the search feature might find it! Quote
