That could be two things: first, double check that your emergency brake is full released / de-pressed. There's a sensor to denote if you have your brake on so that you don't drive with it on. Second, is that your brake fluid level in the Master Cylinder resivor is low. There, too, is a sensor that if the level dips below the minimal amount, that light will turn on at your instrument panel.
