Jamesmdx1
Hello, I am new to this board I have a 92 cutlass with a 3.1l..166k miles..just recently it's seems to cut out and there is a intermittent loss of power while driving..and I have to step on the gas to get it to go. Seems to be ok when stopped and at idle..it has stalled a few weeks ago..when coming to a stop a few times..starts right up..no problems starting back up or long crank time. It will start to do this after the car is warm and there are no Codes. I have replaced the injectors last year, tps, iac, throttle and intake cleaned, spark plugs and wires. I don't see any vacuum leaks and the fpr isn't leaking. There is a rumbling in the exhaust that I Had for the last 2 years but I don't think that it's an exhaust issue I thing that it has to be a fuel/air/vacuum issue and that's the reason I replaced the injectors last year. One weird thing is that today I disconnected the for vacuum hose at the fpr and it seemed to run smoother, less rumbling in the exhaust ..but still cuts out when cruising .. I was thinking coils maybe.. Any ideas...I really need help Thanks in advance Jim Edited August 23, 2011 by Jamesmdx1

regalman
Sounds like ignition module or crank sensor to me. sounds electrical as resistance changes in module or sensor as it warms up, mine did this and was crank sensor, its a cheap part but pita to change, its not the coils though. ignition modules known for this, go to jy and get one with coils already attached.I bet you loose spark and engines quits. Jamesmdx1
Really.. I would think that if the icm was bad or going bad I would have a hard time starting the car.. Anyway I can test it? I know advance auto can test it but I have to take it out of the car.
