19Cutlass94 Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Lately, Ive been having my ABS light come on... The fluid is full, and the light does not come on upon starting the car. It comes on when your on the brake, car moving, and the ABS pump cycles, or activates or whatever it does, then it comes on and stays on. I dont think it would be a sensor, cause then wouldnt it come on upon start up? I didnt hook my scanner up to it yet, probably will this weekend. But does this little but of information indicate that the pump is shot? Quote
White93z34 Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 hook up your scanner, only real way to know. it sounds like a wheel speed sensor to me. Quote
jman093 Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Actually that bit of information points to a bad WSS. It doesn't know it's bad until the car is moving and it gets a missing/erratic signal. Any other failure will generally light the light shortly after starting the car when the ABS system self-tests. In any case the only way to know for sure what's wrong is to get the code. Edit: LOL, Beat me to it Chris Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 Ill hook the scanner up this weekend to see. But I know one ODBII if theres anything wrong like a WSS, the light stays on after the self check. Didnt know if OBDI was similar or different in the way the self check is preformed. Quote
