Notes on front axle bearing hub assembly replacement - 2002 GTP

Did the replacment this weekend. I had one side that had a bad (shorted out) speed sensor. Since the car had 125k miles on it, I decided to replace the wheel bearing hub assemblies on both sides. I was going to take pictures and post them, but there's no need. These two links cover it well:

I basically followed the procedure suggested in the Grand Prix Forums thread above. The other link is good for additional pictures of all the bits in there once you get the wheels off. Everything went well (no rounded off hub mounting bolts or anything, etc.). I am irritated that GM couldn't seem to make up its mind as to what axle nut size to use. I had two different sizes (I think because the CV shaft assembly on the drivers side was replaced a year or so ago, and that assembly comes with a new axle nut, which was apparently a different size than the stock nut). So I had to make a mid-repair trip out to get another big axle nut socket. Used the 159 ft-lb torque spec on the axle nuts.

All is well. Car rolls noiselessly. And even better, I've gotten rid of the annoying ABS and/or system triggering when I'm going slow speeds over a speed bump or pulling into/out of parking spaces.
