I have a 95 buick regal GS that i'm pretty sure just shredded the reverse reaction shell. So i'm on the hunt for another transmission. I know a good deal about cars in general but i have never been a big fan of W bodies until i got this regal. Now she only has 1st gear so i wanna get her back on the road. Now correct me if i'm wrong but as long as i get a 4t60E from W-Body that has a vacuum modulator on it i should be fine right??

And another question is will it hurt to swap in a 4t60e that came off of a 3.1? Like maybe a 5AFW or a 6AFW (3.33 FDR)?? I wanna go up to the punchier gears if possible , if i did that would it work correctly or should i just try to find the correct 5BLW (3.06 FDR)?

To go with a different gear set, you need to be able to reprogram your PCM. Unforunately for you, your 95 cannot be.

Dunno what your location is, but I have a rebuilt 4T60e with like 30K or so on the rebuilt that was from a 95 Regal 3800. It would be a direct swap in to your car. I'd be willing to let it go for the right price.

And honestly, the higher gear with your L27 engine wouldnt be very helpful on the highway. Your engine has gobs of low end power and not too much higher up, thats why they got the 3.06 and not the 3.33 like the 3100 cars.

Agreed, I could lug my 3800 regal around all over the place in 3rd and 4th gear, in lockup, at like 1500 rpm. Loved it. Didn't make any power over 4k though.
