Cheap junk "consumer grade" code readers and "scan tools" are a poor investment.

Pick up a used professional-grade scanner and you'll have an appropriately powerful tool.

OBD1.5 cars are finicky on scanners. I've seen professional scanners refuse to communicate with my Z34's computer, and higher end ones communicate no problem, then I see another OBD1.5 car have no problem with a cheaper scanner. OBD1.5 is a clusterf*ck. To be sure, get something high end and professional grade.

Well, im lucky as it is obd1. The Auto xray has been decent so far , with mostly just bad labeling (nomeclature) of wording for parameters, and some parameters show up that are irrelevent to my car. But it makes no mention of abs no matter what is tried. Thanks

Re it being OBD1.5 Got it, thanks. Car has a 12 pin aldl, so I assumed it was an OBD-1. And my buddies 94 3.8 Bonneville has a different (smaller aldl). Lesson learned....aldl doesnt tell which obd version a car has.

Best bet is the Saar cabling, and V-5.

Damn you nearly have to win the lottery to afford the second one

Too bad you can't rent these tools for temporary use kind of like you can for heavy equipment.

OK Back to reality. I have a Innova 3100A which is a decent scanner. Innova makes a 3160 which does CANOBD2 and ABS and they go for around $200 on ebay. The Newer Innova scanners you can update them through your PC which is a cool feature. I've had my innova for years and never had any issues out of it. This is the Innova 3160: http://www.innova.com/Product/FullDetail/a030534b-49e8-47f7-967e-7ee8b2bb9946

OBD 1/1.5 and the ABS IV computers are totally separate systems. A older scanner that can read OBD1 that has abs capabilities will be able to read it no problem.

Dude, the Second one has built in WIFI, and runs Windows.

its pretty nice i use it ALL the time. its a little buggy for a 14k dollar scanner though (threw snap on) but it does run windows. Had great battery life. and you can scan Anything from 2011 vw's to 90's silverados. the wifi has good range. and the touch screen works great. its a Little on the heavy side.
