slick
Wife just called, she had to leave her car at work. I guess one of the rear tires is stuck, the Trac Off light is on, and the ABS light is on or flashing, not sure. What's common to get stuck on the 2nd gen's? Parking brake cable? Just need some forsight as to what I get to fix when I get home this week. Car is a 2002 Buick Century. Thanks.
White93z34
perhaps a failed ABS module that wants to lock that wheel. I know its a different system and all but I know Shaun is having a very similar issue with his Regal and the front wheel. does she use the park brake often? that car should be rear drum only right? slick
Yeah, rear drums. I asked if the parking brake was on, she said no. As far as how often it is used, probably never. I know I've used it when I've changed the oil, trans fluid, front brakes, etc... The wheel is locked up, and will not turn.
slick
Just found out, rear drivers side. So... bad rear drum, stuck parking brake, wheel bearing.
slick
Also, gonna pray it's not a damn ABS module.
White93z34
I'd hit up Rob and borrow his ABS scantool when you get the chance. Even with a broken, drum, shoe, wheelbearing, etc. I don't see how it could trip the TRACOFF/SVS/ABS lamps. Worth checking it out first though. slick
I keep reading stuck wheel cylinders with a quick google search, similar symptoms. Stupid drum brakes.

AL
Just got off the phone with her... She drove it across the parking lot... The abs and trac off ccame on due to the tire not moving and a wheel speed sensor code has tripped... I am going there at 8 to check it out and have it towed to Chris's
slick
All fixed up. Pulled the wheel off, couldn't turn it by hand. Pulled the drum off, could turn the bearing, no problem. Tried putting the drum back one, no go. Parking brake worked fine. Depressing the pedal, the wheel cylinder was functioning properly, and no leaks. Turned the Adjuster mechanism slightly to reset the brakes, all good now. While I was at it, I finally installed the front STB i picked up for this thing a while back. 2k2cse
Time to upgrade to discs lol I've been wanting to upgrade mine for a while now.
slick
New STB. Also shows off the handy brackets I picked up. Screw drilling through the strut tower. I had all the parts to swap to discs at one time. Then I realized that this is my wife's car, and she could care less.

ManicMechanic
I'd check the other side and make sure someone didn't swap sides with the adjusters.
